About Matt Schiavenza:
Matt Schiavenza is a native Californian who lives in Kunming, China. He moved to China in September 2004 after obtaining a degree in International Studies from the University of California, San Diego, having spent one of his university years in Padua, Italy.
Since his arrival in China, Matt has taught English, studied Mandarin, and worked as a freelance journalist. His articles have been published in a variety of different websites and magazines, covering topics ranging from business to travel. Matt also works as an analyst at a boutique consulting firm located in Kunming.
In addition to China and Chinese, Matt’s interests include history, politics, travel, language, music, film, and food. He is an avid baseball fan and is also fond of bicycling and swimming. Matt speaks and reads Italian and Mandarin Chinese in addition to his native English.
